Squadron  Boating Course
Starts  April 29, 2008

 The Squadron Boating Course in Bellingham will be held at Bellingham Technical College. It will be on Tuesday nights beginning April 29th and will run through June 17th..

 The comprehensive eight-week course teaches navigation and charting of local coastal waters, boat handling skills, and safety tips for both sailors and power boaters.

For a $65 fee students receive instruction, course manual and chart plotter.  Students will need dividers and NOAA Chart 18421 (Strait of Juan de Fuca to Strait of Georgia), available at the BTC bookstore or at local marine stores. Participants can earn college credit and may qualify for lower boat insurance rates.

America's Boating Course
February 23, 2008 & March 22, 2008

America's Boating Course will be presented as a one day course at Bellingham Technical College on February 23, 2008 and again on  March 22, 2008.  

In this one-day course the student will learn basic boating safety. The course is designed for boaters using all types of watercraft. The course material includes seven chapters, which cover:

Boat Education: General information about boats and personal watercraft, and their maintenance.

Boating Safety: How to make your boating safer and more comfortable.

Boating Tips: How to be a more courteous and safe boater.

Boating Law and Regulation: Laws and regulations that you must follow.

America's Boating Course is recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Power Squadrons and has been approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.  The fee for the course is $40.
